Who is it for?

Candidates for the CFA Program include students entering the investment field, professionals increasing their expertise and marketability, and people making a career change into the investment profession from other disciplines. It is of interest to accountants, auditors, financial advisors, and financial managers, executives of listed companies and banks, free-lancers.

The qualification is granted directly by the CFA Institute (former Association for Investment Management & Research – AIMR) upon successful completion of exams administered by the CFA Institute. The CFA program includes three levels of study. The Level I exam consists of multiple –choice questions. The Level II exam is composed of item set questions and the Level III exam is composed of item set and essay questions. Topics are revised annually and announced by the CFA Institute five to eight months before the official exam date in June.

Registration requirements

  • University Degree
  • or be in the final year of your bachelor's degree program at the time of registration.
  • or have four years of professional work experience (does not have to be investment related).
  • or have a combination of professional work and college experience that totals at least four years. Part-time positions do not qualify, and the four-year total must be accrued prior to enrolment.



The professional qualification study courses do not have a determined duration, as the length of the studies varies according to the candidate’s availability to complete the levels as well as their work experience. The CFA qualification usually has a duration of at least three years (one year per level).


To become CFA Charterholder

  • Pass the CFA exams for the 3 levels
  • Have four years of qualifying investment work experience. The CFA Program can be completed without any investment experience.
  • Become a member of CFA Institute (the global association of investment professionals that administers the CFA charter), pledging to adhere to the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct on an annual basis
