Continuing professional development (CPD)

What is CPDs

CPDs involve maintaining and enhancing the knowledge, skills and experience related to your professional activities following completion of your formal training. Continuing professional development helps ensure your skills and knowledge are up to date.

Importance of CPDs

Continuing Professional Development is widely recognised as fundamental to the improvement of standards and skills for individuals and their industries. CPD is important as it helps to ensure that further learning is progressed in a structured, practical and relevant way to guarantee that there are applied efficiencies in learning. CPD allows an individual to focus on what specific skills and knowledge they require over a short-term period, over a year, in order to be confident there is recognisable improvement within their proficiency and skill sets.

Planning your CPDs

A planned approach to Continuing Professional Development allows an individual to put themselves in charge of their own career development and work-related ambitions. A personal empowerment of learning brings with it an increase in confidence and resulting abilities, all of which correlate to an improvement of capability for their employment environment. Any learning activity which maintains, develops or increases knowledge, technical skills, problem-solving or professional performance standards can be included in the continuing professional development toolbox.

Most professions set requirements for on-going CPD for their licensed, registered or chartered professionals so that they can demonstrate their current competence in their chosen field.

Our CPD seminars

A wide range of activities (professional, formal/educational) can contribute to your CPD, however, it is not about the quantity of the activities but the quality of the reflections linked to recent learning activities. It is for you to recognise needs and opportunities both inside and outside your workplace and to take advantage of learning experiences to develop your own CPD programme. Joining our CPD seminars can help you manage your own learning and growth by offering a combination of approaches, ideas, and techniques.
